Игра представляет собой двухмерный beat 'em up. В которой вы выступаете в роли перекаченного мужика. Игра основывается на анимешном сериале Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), который славиться обилием жестокости, насилия и крови. Первой (оригинальная) игра вышла для Японии и называлась Hokuto no Ken. Она была достаточно жестокой, и хорошо приправлена обилием крови и взрывающимися головами. Но поскольку Европейская и Американская аудитория более впечатлительная. Игра подверглась большой цензуре, и были вырезаны почти все сцены с насилием и кровью. Так же на выпуск игры за пределами Японии под названием Hokuto no Ken лицензию получить не удалось. Поэтому игру переименовали в Last Battle. Поэтому пришлось изменить и имена персонажей. Так что если вас не пугают Японские иероглифы, то играть нужно именно в Hokuto no Ken.
Игра так же имеет название Last Battle - Legend of the Final Hero.
