Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 является первой игрой в серии Metal Slug. Игра представляет собой бесшабашный Shoot 'em up. Постоянное мелькание пуль и взрывы на экране создают неизгладимое впечатление от игры. Игроку или игрокам предстоит провести солдат Марко Росси (Marco) и Тарма (Tarma) через толпы врагов, которые будут иметь различный внешний вид, разное оружие и представлять разную опасность для игрока.
